Rachel has been an ardent feminist for many years. A Junior at Wellesley College, she is majoring in Economics and Women's & Gender Studies. She enjoys the unexpected intersections that come with these two areas of study.
Her work focuses on elevating women's voices when society would prefer they stay silent. She has participated in research on coercive control and domestic abuse in communities of color and immigrants. Instead of letting that research stay locked in the ivory towers of academia, she collaborated with her lead researcher to launch a website showcasing opportunities for activism regarding coercive control. At Jezuba, Rachel focuses primarily on content creation for the Women's Health Program. She manages the blog section of the Women's Health Program and works with the marketing section of Jezuba to promote the blog on social media platforms. Her writing focuses on a big taboo: periods. Rachel aims to educate people on the lived experience of having a period. She writes at the intersection of feminist activism and science, striving to make her posts informative and relatable. Rachel hopes her blogs help spark conversations about periods, bringing them into the sphere of acceptable conversation topics. She believes an integral step to solving problems like period poverty, girl's unequal access to education, climate change, hyperconsumerism, and gender inequality is being able to talk about menstruation without the need for apology or awkward laughs. |
